A geometric-process maintenance model for a deteriorating system under a random environment

چکیده
This paper studies a geometric-process maintenance-model for a deteriorating system under a random environment. Assume that the number of random shocks, up to time , produced by the random environment forms a counting process. Whenever a random shock arrives, the system operating time is reduced. The successive reductions in the system operating time are statistically independent and identically distributed random variables. Assume that the consecutive repair times of the system after failures, form an increasing geometric process; under the condition that the system suffers no random shock, the successive operating times of the system after repairs constitute a decreasing geometric process. A replacement policy , by which the system is replaced at the time of the failure , is adopted. An explicit expression for the average cost rate (long-run average cost per unit time) is derived. Then, an optimal replacement policy is determined analytically. As a particular case, a compound Poisson process model is also studied.

Integrated Inspection Planning and Preventive Maintenance for a Markov Deteriorating System Under Scenario-based Demand Uncertainty
In this paper, a single-product, single-machine system under Markovian deterioration of machine condition and demand uncertainty is studied. The objective is to find the optimal intervals for inspection and preventive maintenance activities in a condition-based maintenance planning with discrete monitoring framework. At first, a stochastic dynamic programming model whose state variable is the ...
متن کاملMaintainability Policy for Deteriorating System with Inspection and Common Cause Failure (TECHNICAL NOTE)
A condition based preventive and corrective maintenance policy is proposed for a continuously operating system. The condition of the system is assumed to deteriorate with time. The model incorporates both deterioration as well as random common cause failures. The deterioration stages are modeled as discrete state processes. The system is put to random inspection to know the condition. The mean ...
متن کاملOptimization Models for a Deteriorating Single Server Queuing Production System
In this paper a single server queuing production system is considered which is subject to gradual deterioration. The system is discussed under two different deteriorating conditions. A planning horizon is considered and server which is a D/M/1 queuing system is gradually deteriorates through time periods. A maintenance policy is taken into account whereby the server is restored to its initial ...
متن کاملA POMDP Framework to Find Optimal Inspection and Maintenance Policies via Availability and Profit Maximization for Manufacturing Systems
Maintenance can be the factor of either increasing or decreasing system's availability, so it is valuable work to evaluate a maintenance policy from cost and availability point of view, simultaneously and according to decision maker's priorities. This study proposes a Partially Observable Markov Decision Process (POMDP) framework for a partially observable and stochastically deteriorating syste...
متن کاملModelling and Decision-making on Deteriorating Production Systems using Stochastic Dynamic Programming Approach
This study aimed at presenting a method for formulating optimal production, repair and replacement policies. The system was based on the production rate of defective parts and machine repairs and then was set up to optimize maintenance activities and related costs. The machine is either repaired or replaced. The machine is changed completely in the replacement process, but the productio...
